Previously, I discussed my moment of what Edith Stein called an “unreflective certainty.” I received this certainty in a devotion to St. Joan of Arc. I also referred to it as a “divine glance,” using St. Thérèse’s terminology. How can we approach the phenomenology of the meaning and underlying ontology of Edith Stein’s “unreflective certainty”? What do we do to open ourselves to the “divine glance” of St. Thérèse? Here is a suggested first step.
