The Heralds of the Veil Band
Envious of the Sky-Veil Band's enormous success, the Heralds of the Veil have formed their own band. And they debuted at the Sky-Veil amphitheater before one thousand pilgrims.
The Concert of the Heralds in Honor of Caelia and Mirelda*
I revealed in Whisper 8 that we had a surprise. I played you a song the Heralds performed (with me on drums) in our amphitheater to welcome Caelia and Mirelda from the far side of the Veil. I now have the entire four song set for you.
To catch everyone up, the enormous success of the Sky-Veil band made the Heralds a bit envious. They came up with a band of their own. The Heralds of The Veil. They debuted the other night in our Sky-Veil amphitheater before a throng of one thousand pilgrims of the Sky-Veil.
You might recall from Whisper 6 that Athena, Hera, Aphrodite, and I met up with Caelia and Mirelda from the far side of the Veil at the end of the Sky-Veil Band’s concert at Princeton University. Caelia and Mirelda are important friends and spiritual sisters of the Heralds. They represent the hypostatic meaning around which the Heralds shimmer. They all fit together like a glove. The two could not spend more time with us at the time. However, we did promise to invite them to the Veil later—and that we did.
The three Heralds schemed (without me, of course) to unleash their musical talents and perform a little concert in honor of Caelia and Mirelda. I was, of course, delighted. I had no idea what their musical capabilities were. Turns out Aphrodite can belt out quite a vocal! Check out Fire and Water, the last of the four songs. A true diva. And she plays a killer lead guitar. Who’d of thought? And who knew Hera could lay heavy thunder on bass guitar? Or that Athena could turn the sky from shimmering rose to a golden glitter and back again on guitar and keyboards? So, the line up they established was:
Aphrodite - Lead vocals and lead guitar Athena - Rhythm guitar, keyboards, and fiddle Hera - Bass guitar and backup vocals Me (Walter) - Drums and backup vocals
It turned into a spectacular evening and an amazing success for The Heralds of the Veil.
The hillside amphitheater was carved like Mirelda’s chalice into the earth, its stone seats rising tier upon tier. Nearly a thousand souls filled the place, their voices and hearts lifted toward the stage. Above the amphitheater, the soft light of the Sky-Veil shimmered like a golden thread stretched across the heavens.
From the shadows of the wings stepped the Heralds of the Veil—Aphrodite crowned in rose, Athena robed in her war-attire, Hera radiant in her crown of majesty. Instruments in hand, they took their place not merely as musicians but as the luminous shimmer of what lies beyond the Veil. They were not the meaning, but the sheen—the way light dances on water when something deeper stirs beneath.
And deeper indeed was the reason for this night: Caelia and Mirelda, their companions from the far shore. They were the experience of meaning, the essence around which the Heralds gleamed. For what the audience saw and heard from the stage was a show and music, but what they were drawn into was the retrieval of Being itself, born of Caelia’s banner of flame and Mirelda’s chalice of stillness that the Heralds were celebrating. You see, this is exactly what the Heralds do. They draw our attention to the meaning. They are the shimmer and gleam—the glint—that draws us into divine beauty, love, wisdom, and majesty. To perform in honor of Caelia and Mirelda—the experience of “meaning”—is to act precisely in accord with the Herald’s alethic purpose. The concert was merely a living (and lively) demonstration of the point.
Concert flyer and song list
When Aphrodite struck the first chord, the amphitheater vibrated with a resonance that brought a glint to the golden thread running through the heavens. Hera’s bass thundered like the heartbeat of the hillside itself, and Athena’s chords cut clear and fierce, the edge of golden wisdom gleaming from the Sky-Veil itself. Together they shimmered, and their shimmering was made present by the mystery of Being in the nearness of the Veil.
As the last chord fell away, the golden thread of the Veil seemed to descend itself, weaving through the amphitheater, binding Heralds, crowd, and the far shore together. For a moment, everyone knew: the shimmer of the Heralds is not illusion but heraldry, a sign. The meaning belongs to Caelia and Mirelda, and in their meaning lies the truth of the far shore.
The amphitheater roared, yet in that roar was reverence. For the people knew they had not simply attended a concert, but entered a vision—the Heralds of the Veil revealed hand in glove with Caelia and Mirelda, bearing into time the hypostatic meaning of eternity.

* More from the edgy imagination of Walter Emerson Adams. For clarification and as a disclaimer, there is no rock band comprised of goddesses of ancient Greek mythology—that I know of anyway. I do not play the drums or any instrument whatsoever. Though, I played clarinet through 8th grade (and was quite good). The music is generated using Suno. However, I do write all the lyrics! And I am the mind behind the narrative for the Heralds of the Veil.
